Afghanistan killings vs Fast and Furious

Posted by on March 12, 2012

First of all let me say that the stories of a soldier going rogue and killing some innocent Afghans is a tragedy that must be dealt with. The Obama administration released a statement saying ‘the Obama administration vowed a rapid investigation and promised to hold whoever was behind the violence fully responsible.’ Now that is all well and good and is exactly what should happen.

The problem I have is that the ‘Fast and Furious’ scandal has not been dealt with in the same fashion by the Obama administration. For those that are unfamiliar with ‘Fast and Furious’ let me try and explain it, it is a secret ATF program that allowed guns to “walk” into Mexico and right into the arsenals of Mexican drug cartels. Fast and Furious was an operation so cloak-and-dagger Mexican authorities weren’t even notified that thousands of semi-automatic firearms were being sold to people in Arizona thought to have links to Mexican drug cartels. According to ATF whistleblowers, in 2009 the U.S. government began instructing gun store owners to break the law by selling firearms to suspected criminals. ATF agents then, again according to testimony by ATF agents turned whistleblowers, were ordered not to intercept the smugglers but rather to let the guns “walk” across the U.S.-Mexican border and into the hands of Mexican drug-trafficking organizations. A US Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry was murdered by one of these guns yet the incident has been described by some involved as “collateral damage.”

Are you kdding me! A US border Patrol Agent is murdered by weapons that were purposely sold (illegally) on instruction of the US Government and its called ‘Collateral Damage’!! Tell that to Agent Brian Terry’s family! Where are the harsh words from the Obama administration on this atrocity – no where to be seen since they are trying hard to sweep it under the rug and deny any knowledge of it. Eric Holder should be investigated and held responsible for this tragic incident. As usual with the Obama administration, they work too hard trying to protect their cronies and not hard enough to do what is right and just – its just plain ridiculous!
